Services for Accountants
At Stratos, we specialise exclusively in tax. We do not offer accounting, audit, or bookkeeping services which makes us a trusted partner for accountancy firms who want to offer clients exceptional tax advice without increasing internal overheads or competing for services.
Whether you need help with a one-off client query, support on a complex transaction, or an ongoing tax resource you can rely on, we work with you to protect and enhance client relationships and deliver the highest standard of service.
We know that not every accountancy practice has the in-house tax expertise or capacity to manage specialist or complex tax matters. That’s where we come in – our services are fully flexible, collaborative, and always confidential.
One-Off Tax Advice or Second Opinion
If you need fast, clear advice on a specific client tax question or just want to make sure you haven’t missed something, then we can help.
This is ideal for accountants looking
- A technical review on a grey-area tax position
- Support for responding to HMRC correspondence
- Confirmation on points of law or case precedent
- Pre-year end or pre-transaction tax planning
We aim to turn around queries quickly and practically, supporting your workflow, not slowing it down. We can provide verbal or written guidance depending on what is needed.
Our fees are charged on a time spent basis so there’s no long-term commitment or significant costs.
Support on a Client-Specific Challenge
We regularly work with accountants to support their clients through:
- Business restructurings and demergers
- Employee share schemes (e.g. EMI, growth shares)
- Incorporation or disincorporation
- Succession planning and exit strategies
- HMRC investigations and disclosures
- IHT planning
For more complex or transactions you may not be familiar with, we’ll guide you on the best approach, flag potential risks, and where needed support with direct communication with your client. We’ll be there throughout the process if you need additional support or guidance.
Tax Sounding Board
We provide a Tax Sounding Board to assist qualified solicitors and accountants resolve tax problems for their clients.
A telephone conversation with either tax consultant under the Tax Sounding Board service costs just £100.00 plus VAT for 15 minutes.
Lead Adviser on a Tax Project
For more complex or larger matters and projects, we’re happy to act as the principal tax advisor, and are completely flexible as to how this works in terms of how we engage with the client. Typically, we find that for these more complex projects, we will engage directly with the client but involve the accountant throughout the process but we will be guided by you as to what would work best.
The types of project where we tend to be directly involved include:
- Leading on the tax side of a share or asset sale
- Designing and implementing a group restructuring such a demerger or management buyout
- Preparing and agreeing valuations with HMRC (e.g. EMI)
- Handling detailed R&D or patent box claims from start to finish
- Designing and implementing IHT planning.
We’ll manage the tax process whilst keeping you in the loop.
We understand how important your client relationships are, and we would like to support you in enhancing and adding value to those relationships through tax planning if you do not have the expertise in house.
Bespoke training for accountancy firms
We also provide customised tax training for accountants, helping your team build confidence and stay up to date with the evolving tax landscape.
Training can be delivered:
- In-house or remotely
- As one-off workshops or more regularly
- Are tailored to your team’s level of experience and client base
